Salary Packaging means you can pay less tax, use your pre-tax income to pay for everyday expenses and make your salary go further.

Eligibility criteria: If you work for an FBT-exempt employer you can package living expenses, meal entertainment as well as the remaining benefits. If your employer holds rebateable status then meal entertainment is not available to you and some benefits become income dependent. If neither of these types of employer apply to your circumstances then unfortunately it is unlikely to be available to you.

Eligibility criteria: If you are claiming living expenses or meal entertainment (or both) then the Beyond Bank cards are a convenient and easy to use option.

Living Expenses

We all know that housing is expensive in Australia. But did you know that you can use salary packaging to help offset your living expenses* or other fixed costs.

You can salary package just about any fixed cost:

  • mortgage payments
  • rent payments
  • school fees
  • childcare fees
  • council rates
  • personal loan repayments

Remote Area Housing

Country life is pretty special in Australia, and for employees living and working outside of major regional centres, there are fringe benefits tax (FBT) advantages that can make that choice to stay or that tree change dream all the more worthwhile.

If you live and work more than 40 kms from a town of a small to medium-size town, or at least 100 kms from a regional centre* you may be eligible for FBT concessions such as claiming half the interest on your mortgage or half your monthly rent as a tax concession.

For eligible employees, payments are directed to your nominated bank account(s) and normally paid within 1 working day of your monthly claim.

*The criteria for remote area fringe benefits tax concessions are set by the Australian Taxation Office. Please ask your employer or The Salary Packaging People for more information – and always seek independent financial advice when making financial decisions.

Eligibility criteria: You can claim savings on your mortgage/rent or relocation expenses. This can only be claimed if you work in a defined remote area. You must live AND work more than 40kms from a town with 14,000 people or more and 100kms from an urban centre with over 130,000 people. There are some exceptions to this, please ask us if you believe you may qualify or need more information.


Meals & Entertainment

Going out for dinner, booking a holiday, having a celebration and getting a tax benefit while you do? No wonder Meals & Entertainment is one of the most popular salary packaging benefits.

For employees in eligible industries, you can claim up to $2,650 of meals or travel as a pre-tax benefit each year.

This reportable* benefit could not be easier or more fun to use.

  • Payments via claim (with itemized tax invoices) or through your Beyond Bank Australia Meal Entertainment Card
  • Meals must include food on the bill
  • Accommodation in or outside Australia qualify
  • Travel claims must be package deals – not just flights
  • You need to use it or lose it ;) time to start booking!

*Grossed up value of $5,000 reportable on PAYG summaries.


Work Related Expenses

We all know you can claim work-related expenses at tax time, but did you know that you may be eligible to instantly claim on those expenses as an additional benefit on top of your salary packaging cap?
